How to Travel to Japan?
Introduction
Japan is one of the most popular destinations for travelers, so it’s no surprise that you’re considering going there. But with so many options available, how do you choose? Should you go on a guided tour or travel independently? And once you’ve arrived in Japan, how do you get around? In this article we’ll answer all of your questions about travelling to Japan and what to expect when planning a trip there.
How long is the flight to Japan?
The flight time to Japan is about 10 hours. The exact duration will depend on your route and airline, but no matter where you’re coming from, it’ll be longer than a direct flight. For example, if you’re flying from Los Angeles to Tokyo on All Nippon Airways (ANA), the total time in the air will be eight hours and 45 minutes; however, if you were going from Los Angeles to Seoul via Tokyo with Korean Air Lines Co., then your total travel time would be 15 hours and 50 minutes.
If your destination is closer by–such as Guam or Hawaii–you’ll probably get there faster!
Where do I get my visa for Japan?
If you are going to Japan for tourism, business or work and will be staying for less than 90 days, then you can get a visa on arrival at the airport.
If you need to stay longer than 90 days, then it’s best to apply for a visa in advance. You can do this online or through a local travel agency that specializes in arranging visas.
You can also apply directly at an embassy or consulate of Japan located in your country (if available).
What does the Japanese tourist visa cost?
To get a tourist visa, you’ll need to pay $45 and submit your passport and the application form. The visa is valid for 90 days and can be extended once for another 90 days. If you want to stay longer than that, there are other options available: student or work visas (which will require additional paperwork).
When should you apply for a Japan tourist visa?
If you’re planning a trip to Japan, it’s important to know when the best time is to apply for your visa. You can apply for a tourist visa up to 90 days before your trip, so if you have any flexibility in your travel dates–or if they are not yet set in stone–it may be worth applying as early as possible.
When applying for a Japan tourist visa at least three weeks before departure (and up until 90 days), there are two options available: single entry or multiple entry. Single-entry visas allow travelers access into Japan once; multiple-entry visas allow them unlimited entrances into the country over a period of six months from the date of issue. If you plan on doing some sightseeing outside Tokyo and other major cities during this time frame (which we highly recommend), then we recommend getting one with multiple entries so that there’s no need for another application later on!
Can I extend my stay in Japan once I’ve arrived? If so, how much does it cost to extend a tourist visa in Japan?
- It’s very expensive.
- The process is complicated and can take weeks or even months to complete.
- You have other options to extend your stay in Japan, such as a multiple entry visa or a tourist visa with a round trip ticket.
Is there a height restriction on getting into Japan’s high speed trains (Shinkansen)?
You can travel on a Shinkansen train if you are over 6’1″. However, if you are under this height and have purchased a ticket for your journey, then it is possible to exchange your ticket for another train.
This process is done at the station where you will be departing from. The staff will help arrange an alternative means of transportation for you as long as there are seats available on other trains in your direction of travel.
